OCTOPUS
Physical Characteristics
Octopuses have eight long tentacles with strong suction cups for firmly grasping prey. Their complex eyes provide sharp vision even in low-light environments. Their soft, flexible bodies allow them to squeeze through tight spaces. Notably, they can change color and skin texture for camouflage or communication.
Octopuses have short lifespans. After laying eggs, females guard them for weeks or months, with some species stopping eating and dying after the eggs hatch.
Octopus is a high-value seafood widely consumed in Japan, South Korea, China, Spain, and Italy, prepared as sashimi, hotpot, grilled, stir-fried, etc ... Commercially, octopuses are available live, frozen, cleaned, or pre-processed.
